I want to thank all of you that have paid your 2017 mandatory assessment on time. As you know we have the lowest HOA assessment in Orange County, and to be honest in all of Florida. Paying your assessment on time is helping us improve our neighborhood and saves you money. Thank you.
We have been working hard to catch up on some overlooked tasks which when completed will improve our Bay Lakes neighborhood. We have been concentrating on our prime jewel our community park. Our first project this year is to protect the investment in our docks by giving them the protectant seal coating that should help add years to them. We are also looking into replacing the fencing at the baseball field, upgrading our walkway, repairing our existing benches, and continuing to improve the playground area. One of our biggest concerns to our park is the condition and health of our trees, which have been left uncared for many years. With the necessary tree removal at our combined entrance with South Bay we have been walking local arborists through our park and getting their feed back. They all agree to extend the life of our trees work needs to be done immediately. Dead wood removal and pruning are necessary to help them all recover and become healthy. We do not have a time frame for this project but hope to begin shortly. This could lead to our park being closed for a few days to complete the project safely; we will notify all of you if this becomes necessary.
I know that some of you have voiced your concerns for our park and it’s health and we are working vigilantly on making all of the repairs and upgrades as quickly as possibly. You have to remain patient as everything is money based and with our low assessment the budget is very tight. Thank you to all of you that have made additional donations monetarily and through helping out.
As you drive in to our community along Granada Blvd from Sand Lake you see some new trees being planted. For those of you that don’t know these are memorial trees paid for by residents in memory of someone. [Betty Roy & Nancy A. Foreman] We have been thinking of other memorial items a family could purchase and the idea of offering memorial benches and picnic tables for our park has come up. We feel that this way you could memorialize a loved one within our community and let others enjoy it as well.
At this time as President I would like to personally thank each member of our community and the Board that continue to helps us by volunteering and giving back to the community. As you know we are a Volunteer Board that was put in place years ago to maintain our community and oversee Bay Lakes.
As a community one of the best improvements is to pull our neighborhood together as a team. This is where I ask all of you to please help your neighbors and us and volunteer to help with our events and community projects. We are a diverse community with multi levels of talented people living together in Bay Lakes. You may feel that it is not your responsibility, or you don’t have the time. But anything you can help out with is a help to our community. An extra set of hands goes a long way.
We will be posting on Nextdoor and Facebook links to the upcoming CERT training class. CERT stands for Community Emergency Response Teams and provides you with basic tools and knowledge of how to help you community along with first responders during an emergency. The more neighbors that take this class the better prepared we will be.
Please let us know if you have any questions or comments.
Let’s all pull together and keep Bay Lakes the great little gem in the area that it is

Thanks to all of you who worked on upgrading the appearance of our neighborhood over the past year! With your cooperation we were able to take a big step forward in keeping up with the rest of the communities in the Dr. Phillips area and, in the process, increase the value of all of our homes.
Success is never final though. Maintaining our homes is an ongoing process, which we all can attest to. There is always something that needs to be done! With that in mind, similar to last year, by May we will again do a review of all the homes in the neighborhood. Hopefully this gives everyone time to get their spring projects done.
As a reminder, the reviews only encompass items for each home that are visible from the street. A good listing of items looked for during the reviews is in the Policies and Procedures document on the BayLakesHOA.com website.
As you prepare for your spring projects, below are a few suggestions of common things that can be done to freshen up the appearance of your homes:
●Fresh paint or power wash for the exterior
●Clean the roof
●Power wash the driveway and sidewalks
●Fresh mulch for the flower beds
●Trim the shrubs and trees
●Fill in any bare spots on the lawn
●Clean/repair areas on the fences
●Store garbage cans in the garage or behind the fence
A great way to save money on some of the items listed above is to partner with your neighbors. Many vendors will give a better price if they can do a number of jobs in the same area and reduce their down time due to travel and set up. Also, keep in mind that Godley’s Tree Service has extended a 20% discount for all Bay Lakes homeowners. Call 407-415-5831.
We look forward to another year of progress and thank you all in advance for your help! - Your Bay Lakes HOA ARC Team
